Rural Futures

In 1909 soon after Pentredwr School first opened a whole village photo was taken.

In 1999 just before the millennium another village photo was arranged in the same spot in the school yard.

In 2019 we did it again!

With a Rural Futures MicroGrant we arranged for local photographer Andrew Gale to photograph the community and we also invited everyone, young and old to tell us how they would like the community centre to support their lives.

As the only community hub in the village of Pentredwr the building serves an important purpose for the surrounding community and the wider area including Llantisilio.

Feedback included numerous requests for wifi Access in the community Centre and also lots of interest in using the centre as a venue for arts and craft workshops of all kinds - from children's art classes and needle crafts to stick carving and charcoal making.

And making the Community Centre into a hub for rural skills including using local wool for craft - a community garden was mentioned a lot as well as providing a recycling point.

Community Transport and providing a bus to get people to our workshops and events from Llangollen were high on the agenda.

As well as more quiz nights, whist drives and coffee mornings to get people together!

It was really useful feedback and the committee is now using it to help plan future events.
